ABSTRACT
This
study examined the impact of using standardized and improvised instructional
materials in teaching Business Studies in junior secondary schools, in Ikere
Local government area of Ekiti State, the research design adopted was survey
method and questionnaire method was used to collect necessary data used. Data
were analysed using simple percentage.
Findings revealed that there is a
significant difference in the achievement of students taught using standard
instructional materials, those taught with improvised instructional materials
and those in the conventional instruction. Thus, Business Studies’ teachers
need to be resourceful in instructional materials selection, planning and
utilization so as to reduce the cost of production and maintenance of
instructional materials. The researchers conclude that the utilization of
improvised instructional materials promote and enhance effective
teaching-learning process, it is therefore recommended that the usage should be
encouraged.
