ABSTRACT
The
study examines the effect of teachers’ bhavoiur in teaching chemistry in some
selected secondary schools in Ido-Osi local government area of Ekiti State. One
hundred and fifty students were randomly selected and fifteen (15) teachers
were purposively selected from five (5) secondary schools. Two (2) general
questions were formulated and answered descriptive while four hypotheses in the
study were tested using t-test statistic and ANOVA. The result showed that
teachers and students perception coincide on the fact that teachers behaviour
affects academic development of students. The hypothesis testing revealed that
teacher’s teaching experience and academic qualification does not significantly
influence teachers’ behaviour in the teaching of chemistry. The study
recommended that regular payment of teachers’ salary as well as promotion as at
when due will boost teachers’ moral towards teaching of chemistry and thereby
improve students’ academic performance.
