STUDY OF PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING, PROXIMATE ANALYSIS AND NUTRIENT EVALUATION OF Thaumatoccocus daniellii (SWEET PRAYERS LEAVES) AND Musa accuminata (BANANA LEAVES)

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the study
Something of a natural appears as it has been done by nature, and therefore natural products are the starting point for all of the synthetic compounds or products. A natural product, such as a plant extract, either as pure compounds or as standardized extracts to help the students, scientists, or researchers in the discovery of new products, such as drugs for viral, fungus, bacterial, and inflammatory and chemotherapeutic agents), and the onset or secondary school facilities (such as phenol, benzene, nutritional supplements, such as vitamins and minerals, fiber, etc.) for the production of the good for human consumption. The twenty-first century, people are now going back to natural products, the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of their diseases, and to keep up their body for a system to be fit.
Phytochemical analysis is the study of the natural product compounds are known as metabolites, e.we alkaloids, steroids, glycosides, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, etc. The metabolites are naturally occurring chemicals or the products that are synthesized by enzymes of the plant, through the photosynthetic process, or with the help of chlorophyll, sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. Proximate analysis is the study of the nutritional value present in some natural extracts, such as leaves, roots, seeds, stem, etc of the animals.
Medicinal plants
Medicinal plants are plants which have a recognized medical use on the side of a test or experiment. They range from plants which are used in the production of mainstream pharmaceutical products to plants used in herbal medicine preparations. Medicinal plants can be found growing in many different set up all over the world.
Herbal medicinal products are finished labeled medicinal products that contain active ingredients, aerial or underground parts of plants or other plant materials, or a combination (Chakraver et al, 1993, Chaudhari et al, 1996,Ritch, 2000).Herbal preparations represent a valuable natural resource on which the chemicals that are of potential interest for medicine, agriculture, industry, and other areas can be identified and isolated (Sneader et al, 1985).The socio-cultural background of the people is more of a herbal medicine as a Yoruba way of life, to the medicine. T. daniellii, and M. accuminata is one of those herbs that may be able to have those healing properties.

People in some parts of the world, is being used as a result of the bread on the baking pan. The starch is also cooked it in the glue. And the leaves have medicinal value.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS
• The usefulness of the leaves in herbal medicine for the cure of diseases.
• For the benefit of the quality of the two leaves for good health.
• Nutrient content of any of the pages to which it holds as wrapping the leaves.
1.3 HYPOTHESIS
Wrapping leaves Thaumatococus daniellii, and Musa acuminate extracts, which were obtained by the cold method, and the soxhlex extraction, contain a significant amount of alkaloids, flavonoids, taninines, giycosides, and anabolic steroids, but it is more concentrated in the Thaumatococus daniellii.
1.4 PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES
The aim is to examine two of the commercially available to the leaves (Thaumatococcus daniellii, and Musa accuminata), used for wrapping food.
The objectives to be followed:
• The determination of the phytochemicals present.
To anayse the following parameters, the ash content, crude fibre, crude protein and moisture content of the leaves.
• To determine the content of Na, Fe, Ca, Mg, and K present in the leaves.
No EXCUSE
This is to justify that all of the write-ups in this document are true to the best of knowledge.
