PROBLEM FACING TEACHING AND LEARNING OF SOCIAL STUDIES IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ADO LOCAL GOVERNMENT ARER OF EKITI STATE

ABSTRACT
          The research investigated the factors affecting the teaching and learning of social studies in Secondary school in Ado Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The Investigation was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires to principals and through observation. Simple percentages were used to analyze data collected.
Findings of the study showed that there were many problems affecting teaching and learning of social studies in the area of study.
The major problem militating against the effective teaching and learning of social studies in Secondary Schools was that inadequate number of competent teachers for social studies
Based on these findings it was recommended that government should come to the aid of secondary schools by providing qualified teachers and necessary equipment and facilities that will aid the teaching and learning of social studies in secondary schools.
