ABSTRACTS
This
study investigated the impact of teacher qualification and working experience
in teaching and learning of accounting. The study was carried out in accounting
department of University of Nigeria, Ikere campus Ekiti State. The study examined whether teachers’ commitment to
teaching, work habit ,teachers qualification ,the use instructional material,
peer groups, parental involvement and so on contributed to the academic
performance of students in Accounting. The study was a descriptive research
survey type.100 students and 20 Accounting teachers were selected for the study
using simple random sampling. A well-structured questionnaire was used for data
collection and the data were analyzed using percentage. While Pearson
correlation coefficient at 0.05 level of significance was use to analyzed the hypothesis generated for the study. The
study revealed among others that lack of commitment on the part of teacher’s,
poor working habit, poor attitude of teaches, lack of punctuality in class among others seemed to be responsible for students’
poor academic performance in Accounting.
