EVALUATING THE EFFECT OF LABOUR INCENTIVES SCHEME AS A MEANS TO ENHANCE EMPLOYEES PERFORMANCE

ABSTRACT
This research aims at evaluating the effect of labour incentive scheme as a means to enhance employees’ performance. It was been a genera; believe that if employees are compensated, this would enhance and boost their performance.
According to Bonner and Sprinkle (2000), employees have opportunities to choose between directing their efforts towards performance and strategy development. These have advantage and disadvantage. The advantage of this is its potentials to improve performance over multiple future periods and on the other hand, the disadvantage is at the expense of current period performance.
For the purpose of this work, data were gathered through questionnaire distributed to the respondents while the data gathered were analysed through the application of Chi- Square statistics.
The research concludes that if incentives schemes were properly utilized, there would be job satisfaction. It also concludes that a good welfare incentive scheme that has been put in place for workers motivates them. Recommendations were made based on the conclusion.
